I. Korčok: Intenzívnejšie vstupujeme do informačného priestoru s postojmi k EÚ a NATO
State Secretary Korčok: We have been more intensively providing information with positions on the EU and NATO
State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs SR, Ivan Korčok, presented new initiatives for more intensive communication of the foreign and European policy priorities of the Slovak Republic in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs SR today (30 November). “Slovakia is an integral part of the EU and NATO, a certain civilization area to which we avow and belong. Yet, we do perceive certain overpressure of information that is not always true. In conducting our activities we would like to offer people fundamental information about the benefits we draw from our membership and how much it costs,” said Korčok in that regard. Active communication about Slovakia’s clear pro-European and pro-Atlantic orientation is in line with the joint statement by the country’s three top constitutional officials. “Our ambition is confronting people with a broader context and to stop being a witness to dissemination of various legends, for example, that compare the annexation of Crimea with what happened in Kosovo,” added Korčok.
The state secretary also presented the first outputs from more intensive communication targeted at the domestic population: inter alia, also the first of a series of video-spots included in the communication program titled MysmeNATO (#WeAreNATO) that were produced by the ministry in cooperation with NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division. On the topic of Slovakia’s Alliance membership Korčok noted that “there is no other security and defence safeguard better than the one offered by the NATO membership”.
Ambassador Miroslav Wlachovský, the leader of the newly-established team at MFEA SR for strategic communication, and Col. Jozef Zekucia, Commander of the NATO Force Integration Unit-Slovakia, also spoke at the press conference alongside State Secretary Korčok.
