The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic forms a part of the executive power in the Slovak Republic. 
It is responsible for the development of relations with other states and co-operation with multi-national and international organisations, in particular in the area of foreign and security policy, bilateral relations, economic co-operation, culture, science, technology, and education.

On Friday, 27 January 2023, it will be 78 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz Birkenau Nazi concentration camp. Which is why, based on a decision by the UN General Assembly in 2005, that we commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day exactly on this day.

On Monday 23 January 2023 Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Rastislav Káčer attended the session of the Foreign Affairs Council of the EU in Brussels. The main discussion topics among the EU member states ministers included the ongoing aggression of Russia against Ukraine, the EU-Ukraine summit under preparation, as well as the developments in the region of Sahel and West Africa.

30 years ago, on 19 January 1993, the Slovak Republic joined the United Nations (UN), becoming its 180th member state. The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Rastislav Káčer, recalled that the UN welcomed Slovakia from the very start – a fact proven by the short time separating the country's establishment and its accession to the organisation.

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Rastislav Káčer, confirmed that Slovakia contributed almost 27,000 euro to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development to establish an analytical department for Ukraine at the beginning of January.

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Rastislav Káčer, welcomed the Joint Declaration between the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU), signed today, 10 January 2023, at NATO Headquarters in Brussels by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

On Monday, 2 January 2023, in Vienna, Rastislav Káčer, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, held talks with Alexander Schallenberg, Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Jan Lipavský, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India. The topics of the discussions between the heads of diplomacy of the Slavkov Format (S3) countries and their Indian counterpart included the ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine and its global security and economic implications, relations between the European Union (EU) and India, as well as India's presidency of the G20.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Slovak Republic on Sunday, 1 January 2023, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Rastislav Káčer, said that after the split of Czechoslovakia and the regaining of freedom, democracy and independence, citizens legitimately had great expectations for the future.

On Monday, 5 December 2022, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic held talks with his Hungarian counterpart, Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Affairs of Hungary, in Bratislava. The partners discussed current challenges on the bilateral, regional and European agenda, including the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, energy security and migration.

Поточна ситуація в Україні та продовження допомоги Києву, події в регіоні Західних Балкан, верховенство права, а також регіональна співпраця в Центральній Європі, міграція та майбутнє Європейського Союзу (ЄС). Такими були головні теми зустрічі Міністра закордонних та європейських справ Словацької Республіки Растіслава Качера з Міністром закордонних справ Чеської Республіки Яном Ліпавським та Федеральним міністром європейських та міжнародних справ Республіки Австрії Александром Шалленбергом. Зустріч глав дипломатій країн Славковського формату (S3) відбулася в Château Béla у суботу, 3 грудня 2022 року.
