    The supporting documents submitted with the Schengen visa application should include:

     

    1. documents indicating the purpose of the journey

    One or several of the documents below may be submitted with the visa application. Please, note that the list below is indicative and non-exhaustive. If the European Union has concluded a visa facilitation agreement with the third contry, the supporting documents demonstrating the purpose of the journey, submitted by certain categories of visa applicants, are indicated in the respective agreement.

     

    Organized or individual tourist travels

    • a voucher issued by the travel agency confirming the provided services;

    • a confirmation of accommodation issued by the hotel or accommodation facility;

    • a confirmation of accommodation issued by the private person providing the accommodation in his/her own the apartment/house with the officially verified signature;

     

    Visit based on an invitation

    • a personal letter of invitation with the officially verified signature of the inviting person;

    • a letter of invitation authenticated by the competent department of Bureau of Border and Foreign  Police Bureau of the Presidium of the Police Force;

    • an invitation issued by the legal person (business company, institution, organization, association);

    • a voucher issued by a travel agency confirming the provided services;

     

    International conferences, seminars, symposia, cultural and sport events: 

    • an invitation from the event organizer;

    • an official letter by a dispatching organization applying for a visa for its employee;

    • an entry ticket for the cultural or sport event;

     

    Other purposes:

    • an official document of the receiving medical institution confirming that it can perform the specific medical treatment and the patient will be accepted accordingly;

    • a confirmation of enrolment at an educational establishment for the purposes of attending vocational or theoretical courses in the framework of basic and further training, the length of which does not exceed 90 days;

    • a written request from the national association (union) of carriers of the host country providing for international road transportation, stating the purpose, duration and frequency of the trips;

    • other document confirming the purpose of the visit.

    If the visa applicant is a citizen of a country with which the EU has concluded a visa facilitation agreement, the details of the documents on the purpose of travel presented by certain categories of visa applicants are stipulated in those agreements.

     

    2. documents in relation to accommodation, e.g.

    • a voucher issued by the travel agency confirming the provided services;

    • a confirmation of accommodation issued by the hotel or accommodation facility;

    • an invitation confirming that the inviting party is providing the accommodation for the applicant;

    • a confirmation of accommodation issued by the private person providing the accommodation in his/her own the apartment/house;

    • other documents related to accommodation or the proof of sufficient means to cover the accommodation.

     

    3. documents indicating that the applicant possesses sufficient means of subsistence

    • a recent bank account statements showing movements over a certain period (at least the last three months);

    • a document confirming the regular income (salary, pension) of the applicant (e.g. salary slips, certificate of employment, work contract; 

    • registered proof of sponsorship and private accommodation - a letter of invitation authenticated by the competent department of Bureau of Border and Foreign Police Bureau of the Presidium of the Police Force;

    • traveller’s cheques;

    • other documents safeguarding funds in a convertible currency.

    If the visa applicant is a citizen of a country with which the EU has concluded a visa facilitation agreement, the details of the documents on the purpose of travel presented by certain categories of visa applicants are stipulated in those agreements.

     

    Please note that nationals of the third countries listed below shall submit a police-certified invitation to their application, regardless of the purpose of the journey. Information on exemptions will be provided by the diplomatic missions.

    Bangladesh, Belarus, Iran, Morocco, Pakistan, Vietnam ​​​​​​

     

    In accordance with the Implementing Decree No 499/2011 of the Slovak Ministry of the Interior on establishing the amount of financial resources required to cover the costs associated with a third-country national’s stay in the Slovak Republic the required amount of the financial means is set at EUR 56 per person per day.

    The amount of EUR 56 comprises of several elements. If the costs of a third-country national’s stay in the Slovak Republic are partially covered, this circumstance will be taken into account during the border control.

    The sum of EUR 56 per person per day may be replaced by a certified invitation as laid down in Section 19 of Act No 404/2011 on the Residence of Foreigners and Amendment and Supplementation to other Acts, or by a hosting agreement under Section 26b of the Act No 172/2005 on the organization of state aid for research and development, as amended.  

     

    4. documents enabling an assessment of the applicant's intention to leave the territory of the Member States before the expiry of the visa applied for, e.g.

    • a return (not open) air/bus/train ticket;

    • proof of financial means in the country of residence;

    • proof of employment in the home country;

    • proof of real estate property;

    • proof of integration into the country of residence: family ties; professional status.

     

    5. For underage applicants (minors)

    • birth certificate of the minor applicant (for verification of the authorization of submission of the visa application on behalf of the applicant); 

    • consent of the parent or legal guardian to independent travelling of the child (if required by legislation of the country of residence or in accordance with the local conditions).

     

    6. For applicants residing outside the country of his/her nationality

    • a document confirming the legal residence on the territory of the country (e.g. residence permit, long-term visa) is submitted as a proof of territorial competence of the diplomatic mission to process the visa application.

     

    7. Other documents

    In individual cases the diplomatic mission may ask for submission of additional documents in order to verify the declared purpose of the visit and applicant’s intention to return to their home country or the country of their residence.

    Schengen visas of family members of citizens of EU/EEA and Swiss Confederation are granted under special and simplified conditions.

    In order to obtain the detailed and up-to-date information on conditions of submission of the application for a Schengen visa the competent diplomatic mission should be contacted. The general information above may not cover all visa requirements or exemptions applicable to the specific territory. The extend of supporting documents submitted with the visa application may vary, depending on the existing visa facilitation agreements, local conditions, and rules agreed on within the local Schengen cooperation of the Member States.
