The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic forms a part of the executive power in the Slovak Republic. 
It is responsible for the development of relations with other states and co-operation with multi-national and international organisations, in particular in the area of foreign and security policy, bilateral relations, economic co-operation, culture, science, technology, and education.

Bratislava, 16 January 2025 – In commemoration of the establishment of the Slovak Republic and the beginning of the new year, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic organised a festive New Year's concert on Wednesday, 15 January 2025.

Bratislava, 16 January 2025 - "I welcome the news about a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza. I appreciate the tremendous efforts of the mediators from Egypt, Qatar and the USA. I am thinking of the hostages, who will soon be reunited with their families, as well as the suffering civilian population in the Gaza Strip, who must urgently receive much-needed humanitarian aid. I believe that the agreement will lead to a permanent end to the fighting, followed by a political two-state solution as a step towards a peaceful settlement throughout the Middle East," said Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár.

Bratislava, 3 January 2025 – In October of last year the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic established the International Operational Crisis Centre (IOCC), which is available to Slovak citizens in all time zones in the form of a telephone line 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During its first three months of operation, it handled more than a thousand phone calls.

Bratislava/Baku, 2 January 2025 – On 1 January 2025, through the Slovak Representative Office in Baku, the Slovak Republic became the contact point embassy for the North Atlantic Alliance in Azerbaijan. The two-year mandate will be carried out jointly with Sweden.

Bratislava, 30 December 2024 - In 2024, the Slovak diplomatic service has strengthened consular activity focused on foreign national visa applications with the aim of improving the state of the Slovak national economy. By sending five flying consuls to New Delhi, India, and Jakarta, Indonesia, along with the expansion of permanent staff for embassies in Astana, Kazakhstan, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has significantly streamlined the process of recruiting third-country workers to fill long-standing understaffed positions in the Slovak labour market.
