Representation in issuing schengen visas

In accordance with the Visa Code, Member States should be present or represented in all third countries whose nationals are subject to a visa requirement for visa purposes. Member States, which do not have their own consulate in the third country, should seek to conclude representation arrangements in order to avoid a disproportionate effort on the part of visa applicants to have access to consulates.

Therefore, the Slovak Republic has concluded visa representation agreements with other Member States, enabling the third country nationals to apply for Schengen visas in their home country, without having to visit the territorially competent Slovak diplomatic mission.  The existing representation agreements do not apply to the national visas. An application for a Slovak national visa can be submitted only at the competent diplomatic mission of the Slovak Republic. 

The Schengen visa application shall be submitted in accordance with to the instructions provided by the consulate of the representing State, which also makes the decisions on the issuance of the Schengen visa.

Kingdom of Belgium

The Kingdom of Belgium receives visa applications for the Slovak Republic at its diplomatic mission in the following countries (cities):

• • Democratic Republic of the Congo (Kinshasa);
• • Burundi (Bujumbura).

Czech Republic

The Czech Republic accepts visa applications on behalf of the Slovak Republic at its diplomatic post in the following countries (cities):

• People's Democratic Republic of Algeria (Algeria);
• Ethiopian Federal Democratic Republic (Addis Ababa);
• Republic of the Philippines (Manila);
• Republic of Ghana (Accra);
• Republic of Iraq (Erbil) - from applicants legally residing in the provinces of Erbil, Dohuk and Sulaymania;
• Democratic People's Republic of Korea (Pyongyang);
• Republic of Mongolia (Ulaanbaatar);
• Islamic Republic of Pakistan (Islamabad).

The Slovak Republic represents the Czech Republic in the following countries (cities):

• Republic of Cyprus (Nicosia).

Kingdom of the Netherlands

The Kingdom of the Netherlands receives visa applications on behalf of the Slovak Republic at its diplomatic missions in the following countries (cities):

• Republic of Mali (Bamako);
• Qatar State (Doha);
• Republic of Senegal (Dakar);
• Republic of Suriname (Paramaribo);

Republic of Lithuania

The Republic of Lithuania accepts visa applications on behalf of the Slovak Republic at its diplomatic missions in the following countries (cities):

• Georgia (Tbilisi).

The Slovak Republic represents the Republic of Lithuania in:

• People's Republic of China (Shanghai).

Republic of Latvia

The Slovak Republic represents the Republic of Latvia in the following countries (cities):

• Republic of Korea (Seoul);
• United Mexican States (Mexico);
• Romania (Bucharest).

Hungary

Hungary accepts visa applications on behalf of the Slovak Republic at its diplomatic missions in the following countries (cities):

• Republic of Albania (Tirana);

• People's Republic of China (Chongqing) - from applicants legally resident in Chongquing, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Gansu and Shaanxi (Shaanxi)

• Republic of Moldova (Chisinau);

• Saudi Arabia (Riyadh);

• Russian Federation (Yekaterinburg) – representation temporarily suspended

• Socialist Republic of Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City) - from applicants legally residing in the cities and provinces of Da Nang, Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi, Bình hnh, Phú Yên, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuận, Bình Thuận, Nang Nai, Bình Dương, Ho Chi , Long An, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tền Giang, B Tren Tre, V Longnh Long, Can Tho, Tra Vinh, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Cau Mau;

The Portuguese Republic

Portugal accepts visa applications on behalf of the Slovak Republic at its diplomatic missions in the following countries (cities):

• Angola (Luanda, Benguela);
• Guinea Bissau (Bissau);
• Cape Verde (Praia);
• Mozambique (Maputo);
• Sao Tome and Principe (Sao Tome);
• East Timor (Dili).

The Slovak Republic represents Portugal in the following country (city):

• Belarus (Minsk).

Austria

The Republic of Austria accepts visa applications to the Slovak Republic at its embassies in the following countries (cities):

• Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (Amman)
• Morocco (Rabat)
• United States of America (Los Angeles)

Republic of Slovenia

The Republic of Slovenia accepts visa applications on behalf of the Slovak Republic at its diplomatic mission in:

• Republic of Montenegro (Podgorica)

The Slovak Republic represents the Republic of Slovenia in the following countries (cities):

• Republic of Cyprus (Nicosia);
• Romania (Bucharest);
• Ukraine (Uzghorod).

Federal Republic of Germany

The Federal Republic of Germany accepts visa applications on behalf of the Slovak Republic at its diplomatic missions in the following countries (cities):

• Republic of Benin (Cotonou); 
• Burkina Faso (Ouagadougou); 
• Dominican Republic (Santa Domingo); 
• Republic of Côte d'Ivoire (Abidjan).

Kingdom of Spain

The Kingdom of Spain accepts visa applications on behalf of the Slovak Republic at its embassies in the following countries (cities):

• Haiti (Port-Au-Prince);
• Jamaica (Kingstone);
• Colombia (Bogota);
• Peru (Lima).

Swiss Confederation

Switzerland accepts visa applications on behalf of the Slovak Republic at its diplomatic missions in the following countries (cities):

• Republic of South Africa (Cape Town) - from applicants legally residing in the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Western Cape Provinces;
• Kyrgyz Republic (Bishkek);
• Nepalese Federal Democratic Republic (Kathmandu);
• Republic of Sudan (Khartoum);
• United Republic of Tanzania (Dar es Salaam);
• Tunisia (Tunis).

Kingdom of Sweden

Sweden accepts visa applications on behalf of the Slovak Republic from citizens of Nigeria, Liberia and Sierra Leone at its diplomatic missions in the following country (city):

Italy accepts visa applications on behalf of the Slovak Republic at its diplomatic missions in the following countries (cities):
